The steering is in and it is fantastic! Less than an inch of play in the wheel! Have not driven yet, but it looks good at this point!
The transmission swap is also going well. The new T-5 is in the car; the pedals, column, battery, cables, etc. are all in the car and right. There was one issue that was unexpected, though.
If you have seen any Paul Shinn videos where the rear end comes out of the car, he cautions to put c-clamps on the rear spring in case the single bolt holding the spring together fails. Death is a possibility.
Well, my bolt had already failed, unknown to me. When I lowered the rear axle, the top five spring leaves fell off onto the shop floor. So I ordered a new bolt, new clamps, and rebuilt the spring including paint and grease. I neglected to check the shackles, though, and the new ones will be here on Wednesday. Then the rear can go back in the car!
I also discovered that most of the brake rods were bent in one way or the other. New ones are going in with new clevis, nuts and pins. Brakes are important!
